Oldies!

While preparing a resume and files i came across some oldies from
my first semester after changing majors AND schools-

Eyes became a big practice for me and the two images below were some first attempts to
re-introduce myself to my Wacom tablet after 5 years not touching the thing.

The base is the exact same for both images.
The only change between them really is their mouths.
But that one thing can change a lot about a creature!

The base of the yellow/ orange bird below was actually done with my mouse
while the top layers were finished with my Wacom.

Conscience: Eva

Sometimes working with people can be a challenge.
Some people are really good about what they want from your work- what they want it to look like and who they want it to look like.

The game group I am doing some work for at the moment asked me to design a character names Eva- giving me the description of her being a middle-aged overweight bus driver for a camp that looks a bit like John Goodman.
And so I got to work!

Above you can see the first design I made of this character- simple enough- pretty flat coloring and a skin tone that could make anyone ill. (hahaha)

The people in charge were not happy with the resulting character design so they gave me more for a description to work off of. But first, before I could work on body design again, they wanted for me to design them several faces that they could choose from.

Head set 1.
Head set 2.

Once I sent these two pages of heads into them they instantly went for Head set 2, first row, second head- or in short, the one with the headband.
Once there was a head chosen I was off to rework the body!
But this time, instead of the look of a bus driver as I had assumed, they wanted me to work her into a look of a middle aged biker chick who took up bus driving in the summer months to rake in a few bucks.

Whoo hoo! So they liked the design of her! But there was one last thing they wanted to add into the character- they wanted to make her a few moths pregnant.
Just a few- So finally, after a few more sketches and check in's I had the final resulting character.

This is Evangeline.

A. : Alas Mortis

Alas Mortis.

I was asked to design a villain with the body of a man and the face design of a vampire bat- after a little doodling about I sent off these 4 rough designs.

Row 1, head 2 was selected as their favorite.

After the head was chosen I worked to their specifications on a body design.
muscular yet not bulky- red eyes, blue brown skin and mean.

I had a lot of fun designing some of his skin! And I'm happy to say they approved of his body design.

Well this IS a vampire bat after all- figured I should throw up a few fur designs on him.
first it was just a little face hair and them it moved down his back- from there I showed a mix of ideas for them to look through.

Last but certainly not least, his clothing!
