Conscience: Sophita

Well I entered my Night Drop animatic and my Bearman Concept Art into a contest and they both took first place in the sections they were sent into!!

Speaking of Bearman- I just finished another character for that game!

First things first though!
Having a good base sketched out helps with everything!

After that we get ourselves into the line work and coloring and Vwa-la!
Sophita is done!

Odd's and ends

Well, advanced production class is coming to an end, so I figured I should throw up the last few things I did over the span of the semester.
Many of these things are just things I did near the beginning of the semester and never got around to putting up on here.

First off we have the Lemonade stand!
Nothing fancy.
This was done near the beginning of the semester so we were still figuring out the styles direction.

What town doesn't have a post office?
All your junk has to go somewhere doesn't it?
Got the task of making a few pieces for a junkyard.

And last but not least the last of the costume designs for the semester.
Style is influenced by Area 51.
you got your mad scientist, your doctor, a military general person, aliens and- last but not least The crazy 'I was abducted by aliens!' person you see in every alien movie.

Animatic: Night Drop

Night Drop
2:41 minutes long.
This animatic took me about 2 and a half weeks to put together on top of my usual classwork.

This little short story is about a small little drop of night sky that falls to a barren planet. Not long after he falls the night sky above him leaves to escape the suns rise. He then learns something amazing about himself and what he can do.

Completed on 5/7/13
(5/8/13 if you add the sound file)

S.O.S

There comes a time in everyone's life where they ask themselves the question...
'If I could have any kind of superpowers, what would they be?'

Well... Why go with something everyone's goes with?
Why not have something fun and totally your own?

Let me introduce MY Superheros!

THIS is the S.O.S Team!
(Superheros of Super)

Each member has a superpower that, well, really isn't all that super.
But that's what makes this team so great!

And, why the heck not, I'll show a few drawn a little more cartoony.

Eelmaid

I figure its about time to start bringing in some of my work into this Blog.
Funny now my art was the main reason for starting this blog yet I haven't done anything to show any of my work yet. Haha.

It's a lot of fun to make work that will be used in games and animations but at the end of the day it's always a blast to come back to your own work. About 3 years ago I got into a mermaid run- but not your usual mermaids. I wanting to bring in a more realistic look into these myths of the deep. Or at least a little more realistic then the usual half human half fish look.
So I began researching fish and sea life- while researching I came across an Eel that stood out to me. A Hawaiian Dragon Moray Eel. These eels have a beautiful design of orange, brown, white and yellow.

3 years later I have decided to take my creation and redesign it in the computer.
I started reworking this character of mine about 2 months ago and between school and outside work, I have had little time to dedicate to this drawing- but what time I do have, I have enjoyed.
Line work is always a lot of fun to do- going from the sketch to a solid form to take farther

I usually catch myself only doing a little of something at a time. Like coloring in the face with shading and lighting before actually going into the rest of the body like I should in order to keep everything even. So, for this work, I have decided to start out with a base coloring and work up from it.

From the color base I worked up- bringing in some of the shading and flaring some of the skin levels with a dash of yellow to bring out the lighting a little more. Once completed with the spots is when I plan to incorporate more of the slimy skin shine that will be white.

And so the spots begin!
Lots and LOTS of spots.

Race

Well, Why not?
It's about time I stuck some of my current classroom stuff up.

when starting a game there is one thing you have to always remember- the style will change with time!
haha.
At the Beginning of the semester  Concept art was asked to design small characters for a racing game.
Originally they asked us to give them big heads that were almost the size of the characters body and make them with a simple body shape that the modelers could work with.
So, I made these little things.

Not my best work but hey!
they are cutesy and short and all that jazz.

Not more then a week later we where informed that the style had been chosen- a more human proportionate look.
Whoo! So we had our base human style to work from.
So what do I get assined?

Costumes!

Costumes!

And more costumes!

Well, I was assigned a few buildings, cars and a demon worm thing, but I'll save those for another time. Any more drawings in this post and I fear it may brake.

Near the middle of the semester we were told the style had been modified a bit more.
Which meant any character related work we did now needed to be redone in order to fit into the new style and give the modelers up-to-date images to work from.
So I had to start the remakes of my costumes- problem was, we had no male and female body bases yet to work with for the new style.

You know the saying 'Ask and you shall receive'?
Well I asked about it- guess who received the project.
Me. Haha.

Once these where done I was assigned to redo the mane character in the new style.
 Vwa-la!

And finally- it was back to doing all sorts of costumes and little things to pix and match for users.
